A creative life.
A continuing story.

My heart and music
Music has always been part of my life. I began violin lessons at five, piano at seven, and taught myself guitar in college. I studied commercial music at Belmont University, later graduated from Bethel, and earned a Master of Arts in Bible and Theology. I’ve spent more than twenty years leading worship.
For a long time, I held on to hurts, habits, and hang-ups while in ministry. As God began breaking and remaking my heart, I felt the need to sing the songs of my heart and tell the story of His redemption in my life. These days, I want to surrender daily to Jesus and follow Him as best I can.
Rich’s influence
As a kid, no other Christian music artist inspired me more than Rich Mullins. He expressed Biblical truth in real-world thoughts, faith, and emotions. His Indiana roots and Quaker background connected with my own family’s story. Growing Young grew out of that influence and my own struggle to surrender.
My worship
I used to say I was all about worship, when I was really talking about the music we call worship. Romans 12:1 calls us to offer our whole lives to God. I want to be known more for my love for Jesus than for any music I sing or write.
I’m also a designer, working in identity, web, publications, motion, and video. Recovery Is Discipleship brings another part of my story into Scripture-based reflections on following Jesus in everyday life.
